想要了解和学习一个文化，一般来说需要从历史、语言、政治、经济、艺术（包括音乐、舞蹈等）、礼仪、生活等方面入手。我们可以通过学习语言去了解其语言背后的历史发展和演变，以及其所包含的风俗习惯和故事，并且掌握了语言有助于我们去阅读许多相关的文献，更好地了解其历史、政治、经济等领域，进而加深对这个文化的理解，这也是题目观点所具备的合理性。
但是，学习语言是个好方法但未必是比较好的。一方面我们可以通过了解艺术、礼仪、生活方式等方法去理解一个文化，这些方面对于语言要求并不高。另一方面，有些文化本身并没有成熟的语言体系或是其语言已经消亡了，这种情况下，通过学习语言来了解文化变得不可行。

There is an assumption that the key means to understand foreign cultures is to learn their languages; however, I would say this claim is problematic due to the oversimplified connection between language and cultural identity.
Indeed, it is not difficult to understand why learning second languages is considered as a fundamental way to establish cultural identity with other nations. Those who think in this way opt to associate the culture of a country mainly to its literature, whether it be on history, philosophy, economy or laws. In this respect, to learn the language of this country appears to be the most important prerequisite to access the information.
However, it doesn’t make sense to me to venerate languages acquisition as the key to understand foreign cultures. Those focusing exclusively on the relevance of languages with a nation are oblivious to the ambiguity of the definition of culture – this is an umbrella concept that encompasses multiple facets of a society, i.e., arts, economy, or the characteristics of its residents; based on this understanding, to obtain other knowledge may be more effective to comprehend a country’s culture. One option can be the appreciation of the arts of a nation, such as its folk or painting that illustrate its history or tradition; it is particularly important for some cultures without written record.
From what has been discussed, I would say that it is simplistic to venerate the learning of languages over other options in relation to the understanding of the culture of a country, since the definition of culture is an overarching term that goes beyond the linguistic dimension.
